Back on the Pitch!!!

After missing almost 3 months of soccer due to baseball ... Matthew was back with the RANGERS this weekend for PQT's. Once again the Rangers qualified at the Premier Gold level for Fall League! Congratulations boys, looking forward to more great soccer this fall season!

Friday update 08-08-08

Friday was another down day for the families. The boys had practice in the morning followed by a great lunch at "Two Guys" italian restaurant. Their host family Jerry/Catherine treated the team and Scott and Jeff treated ALL the rest of us. Very generous ... thank you!!

Later that afternoon there were closing ceremonies. The coaches brought the boys back to our hotel for pizza and family time (and most importantly SHOWER TIME!!)

Thursday update 8-7-08

Thursday's win against Wyoming secures the boys a spot in the finals on ESPN Saturday night at 6:00pm!! Here are some photos from after the game while we stayed and watched the outcome of the Washington/Montana game. We will play Washington.

Wednesday update 8-6-08

The photo below is about the cutest thing to show from the game on Wednesday afternoon.

Boys lost 18 to 1. The good news is we have our top pitching staff available for the semi's and finals. Big picture is that we will play Wyoming and the boys have already beat that team once.

Tuesday update 8-5-08

Tuesday was an off day for the boys. We only got to see Matthew for 3 hours. During that time he wanted some "real" food so he got pasta with grilled chicken and broccoli and devoured every bite!! I don't think I've ever seen him so happy to have steamed broccoli!! He will certainly appreciate my cooking after 10 days in the barracks!

So no game photos to share but here is a group of photos to show you the guys you are listening to when you tune in to KUIK 1360am radio in Portland or KUIK.com for their live stream.

I'll have to take some better photos of the whole stadium. It's impressive!

Monday update 8-4-08

The team won on Monday against Idaho ... with a final of 6 - 4. We got to see Matthew at a picnic that was put on by the team's 'host family'. Then all the boys came back to the hotel to swim. Tuesday is a day off but we will only get to be with Matthew from noon - 3pm as they have practice and will be watching other games.

Sunday's game

The Murrayhill boys won again yesterday against Alaska 11 to 5. It was a little scary for a while when the game was tied ... but the hitting started again and Oregon came through!!

Saturday 8-2-08 First game

Murrayhill boys played their first game on Saturday against Wyoming and won 25 - 14. Lots of hits, lots of walks and a few errors ... at least we got the job done and ended up with the win!!

We brought Matthew back to our hotel for 2 hours yesterday ... the Hilton has these score boards up all over the lobby from the last 10 years of Regionals.

last night we went back to the stadium to watch Washington vs. Alaska and got to spend a little more time with Matthew!!

 

Opening ceremonies - Friday night

We arrived in California Friday afternoon. Got to the hotel, grabbed food and went straight to the  field. It was a great opening ceremony ... very cool to be a part of something like this. Matthew was chosen to be carry the Oregon state flag.
